Big News for Newbrite™. Laundry Powder
Now Officially recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Design for the Environment program
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency doesn't recognize just any product as containing some of the best possible ingredients for the environment. It takes a specialized, carefully formulated product to gain recognition from the EPS's Design for the Environment (DfE) program. Neways is pleased to announce that our newly reformulated and repackaged NewBrite Laundry Powder has receive DfE recognition! What DfE Recognition Means When you see the DfE logo on a product such as NewBrite Laundry Powder, it means that the DfE scientific review team has screened each ingredient for potential human health and environmental effects. Based on currently available information, EPS predictive models, and expert judgment, DfE-recognized products contain only ingredients that pose the least concern among chemicals in their class. Product and manufacturers such as Neways who earn the right to display the DfE logo on recognized products have invested heavily in research, development, and reformulation. These companies ensure that their ingredients and finished products line up on the green end of the health and environmental spectrum, while at the same time maintaining or improving product performance, as is the case with NewBrite Laundry Powder compared with our previous formula. Under the Microsope Employing the special skills of EPA scientists, many of whom have studied chemicals for 30 years or longer, DfE review starts with information that scientists already know about each ingredient, such as how it works in a detergent and how it affects living things. Where that information doesn't tell the full story, the EPA looks at an ingredient's chemical structure -- its components and shape -- to understand how it could impact the environment and people. DfE reviewers compare an ingredient's characteristics to other chemicals in the same class -- in other words, solvents are compared with other solvents, and wetting agents *surfactants) are compared with other surfactants. Before the EPA allows the DfE logo to appear on a product, scientists make sure that only the safest ingredients from each class are used. Expect the Safest-Possible Ingredients When the DfE logo appears on a product, it means that the DfE review team has screen each ingredient for potential human health and environmental effects. Based on hazard and risk information, the latest models and predictive tools, and expert scientific judgment, DfE-recognized products contain only ingredients that pose the least concern among chemicals in their class. For example, if a DfE-recognized product contains a surfactant, that surfactant will not be toxic to human health and it will biodegrade readily to non-polluting degradation products. (Many surfactants in conventional products biodegrade slowly or biodegrade to more toxic and persistent chemicals that threaten aquatic life.) When you've got loads of dirty clothes piled high, it can be easy to forget that you're part of a larger whole, connected to a world beyond your washing machine. Now you can take a Neways approach to your laundry with DfE-recognized NewBrite Laundry Powder. You get the cleaning power you want, while doing your part for the environment and your family.
